Why do we think that?

This could well be a custom audience of Facebook users, in the US (perhaps in certain key states), that Facebook’s advertising service has identified closely with certain interests that can be identified as ‘liberal’. In political campaigns around the world this is a common method of choosing an audience, and the specific interests could be directly identified as political (membership of political party, follows certain key politicians) or as esoteric as certain genres of music.
